The Ilfords lança novo single 'The Demon and the Donkey' sendo o segundo trabalho lançado nesse ano. Antes, havia sido lançado o single 'Snake Groove'.
Os Ilfords é um grupo estridente de hard alt/indie rock de Ilford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, seu som vem de um amplo conjunto de influências, incluindo punk, dance, hip hop, screamo, funk, indie, gangster rap, poesia e hardcore. Bandas de guitarra como Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Enter Shikari, IDLES, the Maccabees, Palace e Foals contribuíram para seu DNA. David (vocalista e ator), Jack (guitarrista e DJ), Phil (baixista e conselheiro parlamentar) e Finlay (baterista e aluno de doutorado em Cambridge) se conheceram na escola.
O novo trabalho foi criado originalmente em um celeiro na floresta. Então a letra veio rapidamente para David (vocais) no Castelo de Somerton no meio de uma sessão de gravação no início de 2024. A história é uma fusão de referências do passado de David misturadas com um toque de fantasia. Ela fala da arte da sedução sexual "Uma Succubus com certeza..." - um demônio Lilin de contos folclóricos que aparece em forma feminina para seduzir... Nem tudo é o que parece. David elabora "Essa música é sobre aquela companhia que você pode ter tido pela presença por apenas um curto período de tempo, mas eles levaram um pedaço de você para sempre".
'The Demon and The Donkey' inicia com uma introdução que nos conquista rapidamente com uma melodia suave e leve, com batidas crescentes indo com uma sonoridade que faz nossa mente flutuar. O vocal entra na faixa e leva conforme quer, trazendo um timbre cativante, indo de forma crescente, até trazer agudos e falsetes em um trecho pré refrão.
'The Demon and The Donkey' surpreende por ter uma mudança de ritmo, indo para o refrão agitado com batidas que fazem a gente sair do chão e a banda canta junto. É extremamente contagiante, é aquele tipo de hino indie rock que em um festival a galera canta junto.
The Ilfords nos eletriza do começo ao fim, com riffs de guitarra que incendeiam a gente por dentro e um intrumental forte, com o baixo bem presente ditando o tom da faixa e ainda uma presença vocal que mostra uma banda cheia de atitude e expressividade, tudo que precisamos em um indie rock, fazendo a gente viciar rapidamente em 'The Demon and The Donkey'.

The Ilfords release new single 'The Demon and the Donkey', their second release this year. Previously, they released the single 'Snake Groove'.
The Ilfords are a raucous hard alt/indie rock group from Ilford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, whose sound draws from a wide range of influences including punk, dance, hip hop, screamo, funk, indie, gangster rap, poetry and hardcore. Guitar bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Enter Shikari, IDLES, the Maccabees, Palace and Foals have all contributed to their DNA. David (vocalist and actor), Jack (guitarist and DJ), Phil (bassist and parliamentary counsellor) and Finlay (drummer and Cambridge PhD student) met at school.
The new album was originally created in a barn in the woods. So the lyrics came quickly to David (vocals) at Somerton Castle in the middle of a recording session in early 2024. The story is a fusion of references from David's past mixed with a touch of fantasy. It speaks of the art of sexual seduction "A Succubus for sure..." - a Lilin demon from folk tales who appears in female form to seduce... Not everything is as it seems. David elaborates "This song is about that companion you may have had in their presence for only a short time, but they took a piece of you forever."
'The Demon and The Donkey' opens with an intro that quickly wins us over with a soft and light melody, with increasing beats going with a sonority that makes our mind float. The vocals enter the track and take it as they please, bringing a captivating timbre, going from strength to strength, until bringing high notes and falsettos in a pre-chorus section.
'The Demon and The Donkey' surprises us with a change of pace, moving into a lively chorus with beats that lift us off the ground and the band sings along. It's extremely catchy, it's the kind of indie rock anthem that the crowd sings along to at a festival.
The Ilfords electrify us from start to finish, with guitar riffs that set us on fire and strong instrumentals, with the bass very present dictating the tone of the track and also a vocal presence that shows a band full of attitude and expressiveness, everything we need in indie rock, making us quickly addicted to 'The Demon and The Donkey'.
