'Snake Handshake' marks a turning point for Brooklyn sludge band Dad. Overall, this single has a very raw and aggressive nature that is layered with some disturbing ambiance, giving the listener a journey through an industrial dystopia. The song awakens a high energy that takes you through the process of a shady business gone wrong. James sings in the chorus, "Don't shake my hand" and during the ethereal bridge, "I'm not that kind of man" provoking doubts about his integrity.
