Pretend Collective lança novo single 'Children in The Trees' sendo o primeiro trabalho lançado nesse ano. A banda é conhecida por suas letras altamente conceituais, arranjos ecléticos e performances magistrais de instrumentistas e cantores. 'Children in the Trees' tomou forma durante sessões esporádicas de piano ao longo de vários meses. Ele floresceu em sua forma final enquanto morava em um apartamento apertado em Crown Heights, com o Empire State Building visível à distância através de uma pequena janela. Apresentando as guitarras de Aurelien Budynek (Cindy Blackman Santana, Marky Ramone), a letra enigmática fala de uma garota que, sentindo uma mudança misteriosa no vento, sobe na Árvore da Meia-Noite em direção àqueles de quem ela se pergunta.
O novo trabalho faz a gente flutuar em riffs de guitarra que perseguem linhas suaves e distorcidas ao ponto de nos levar em ondas psicodélicas, fazendo a faixa crescer em seu refrão cantante. O vocal é bem cativante, faz a gente lembrar do rock dos anos 60, Beatles, mas ao mesmo tempo nos leva aos anos 90 com influências que lembra Oasis em alguns trechos, isso é fantástico.
'Children in the Trees' tem um refrão contagiante, nos colocando dentro da temática da canção, com uma melodia que tem uma atmosfera incrível, nos sentimos leves como uma folha quando cai pela brisa. A faixa representa o indie rock da melhor forma, com um arranjo de backing vocal feminino ao fundo que traz a sintonia perfeita.
Pretend Collective são geniais, em uma faixa que poderia se tornar um hino, uma canção que é rara de ouvir, com linhas melancólicas e ao mesmo tempo o psicodelismo que nos leva a euforia, com batidas crescentes e fortes o bastante para vibrar por dentro, com solo instrumental que mostra a força da banda, indo para o último refrão e então a gente solta a voz junto com o vocal.

Pretend Collective releases new single 'Children in The Trees', the first work released this year. The band is known for its highly conceptual lyrics, eclectic arrangements, and masterful performances by instrumentalists and singers. They are fronted by Mike Reilly, with additional vocals provided by rising star Beccs. “Children in the Trees” will mark the first single ahead of additional singles and the release of the full-length album Summer’s End Parade (9/6/24 The Giving Groove Records).
'Children in the Trees' took shape during sporadic piano sessions over several months. It blossomed into its final form while living in a cramped Crown Heights apartment, with the Empire State Building visible in the distance through a small window. Featuring the guitars of Aurelien Budynek (Cindy Blackman Santana, Marky Ramone), the enigmatic lyrics tell of a girl who, sensing a mysterious shift in the wind, climbs the Midnight Tree toward those she wonders about.
The new work makes us float on guitar riffs that pursue soft and distorted lines to the point of taking us on psychedelic waves, making the track grow in its singing chorus. The vocal is very captivating, it reminds us of 60s rock, the Beatles, but at the same time it takes us to the 90s with influences reminiscent of Oasis in some parts, that's fantastic.
'Children in the Trees' has an infectious chorus, putting us into the theme of the song, with a melody that has an incredible atmosphere, we feel as light as a leaf when it falls in the breeze. The track represents indie rock in the best way, with a female backing vocal arrangement in the background that brings the perfect tune.
Pretend Collective are brilliant, in a track that could become an anthem, a song that is rare to hear, with melancholic lines and at the same time the psychedelicism that takes us to euphoria, with increasing beats and strong enough to vibrate inside, with an instrumental solo that shows the strength of the band, going to the last chorus and then we release our voices along with the vocals.
