Ben Drysdale releases new single 'Listen Now', the first work released this year. Previously, the single 'If I Don’t Lie Down' had already been released.
Following the international success of his debut solo single 'If I Don't Lie Down' in December, Canberra indie folk singer/songwriter Ben Drysdale captivates us once again with his award-winning sophomore single 'Listen Now.
Ben's moving ballad 'Listen Now', which secured 2nd place in the prestigious Hawaii Songwriting Festival competition in 2023, is a moving story about supporting a friend through alcoholism and threatening mental health challenges. Inspired by a midnight phone call from a friend with a belly full of whiskey and a head full of despair, who soon revealed that he had recently tried to take his own life, Ben's candid narrative reflects the power of listening and empathy in crisis times.
‘Listen Now’ arrives with a piano touch that is striking in the introduction, which grows and easily wins us over. The vocal has a calm, solid and introspective style, which with this intimate style, is placed within the song and the perspective of its theme.
