Formada por David Coverdale, por volta de 1977, a banda Whitesnake se consagrou como uma das mais clássicas banda de rock existentes. Além de ser um dos álbuns mais consagrados da banda, "Slip of the Tongue" marca a estreia do guitarrista Steve Vai.   

Whitesnake veio ao Brasil pela primeira vez, em 1985 e foi responsável por um dos melhores shows no palco Sunset, nesta última edição do Rock In Rio.
